CryptoPrevent Premium users with v4.7+ now have the ability to create custom block or allow policies!!!
This does follow certain syntax, so please see this forum thread for more information. This can be a very effective but also very DANGEROUS feature, so please do NOT use this feature if you are not comfortable with Windows Software Restriction Policies and rule syntax!

I purchased a premium license for my home network some time ago.
I initially installed it on all my PCs.
I just want to confirm that crypto prevent is auto updated,
or do I have to do something every time a newer version is introduced.
Ray, if you installed CryptoPrevent with a product key from purchase, it will create an update schedule in Windows Task Scheduler. It will do the same if you click Save Schedule when adding a product key to the installed version after installation. The task will be created randomly between 8am and noon I think, your time zone of course. Currently the update check is set to occur daily, although this may be tweaked in the future. So I would expect within 24 hours of release everyone should be updated automatically.

Too bad they didn’t take them down one week before, as I actually (for the first time) saw a CryptoLocker infection in Madras, TN, India. 😀
CryptoPrevent has been updated several times since the take down, and it will continue to be updated as I can do it. There are several copycats out there (CryptoWall/CryptoDefense) that must be addressed, and don’t forget that due to the way CryptoPrevent works and all the rule sets it creates, it actually does stop a lot of trojan based malware not just CryptoLocker. I think there is a strong need for the product to be continually improved upon, now more than ever, and there are currently plans for additional protections to be added in the near future, though many of them will be entirely optional and designed for the person who wants more control over their OS.

Is there an easy way to look at the install of Premium to confirm it’s updated?
Just take a peek in the registry and look at a string?
Ray, you can just launch CryptoPrevent from the Start Menu and it will display the version number in the top ‘titlebar’ of the app.
