Within d7II you may know that you have a “Work Report” which is generated on the fly as you use d7II, detailing what you’ve just done and optionally time stamping the log entries.
Great idea, but because while some techs are keeping the reports just to log their own work, others are (or would prefer) to hand the report to the client. So in giving a report to your client, not everyone wants the same verbiage automatically appended to the Work Report, nor does everyone want every little thing added there. It is always nice to add additional info under a logged action too, which some would do if given the opportunity.
Now you have that opportunity! v2.1 includes a Custom Report Builder (Reports tab > Other Tasks section > first button) which takes the Work Report as it is generated and holds a copy of it in a temporary file. Now at any time during a session you can selectively pick text from that temporary file and add it to a Custom Work Report, then generate that as a custom HTML report. Note the original Work Report still functions automatically as it always has, with one exception – the option to add Tech Notes to the Work Report has been relocated and now adds them to the Custom Work Report instead.
Included in the new features is a ‘snippet’ section where you can add your own snippets of text and save them to add to future reports.
I also have a few other ideas for this in the future but I need to think about them a bit first..
