After getting seeing this (yet again) on message forums, and also getting a personal email about it from a D7 user this morning, I figure maybe I should blog it. I need some feedback on D7 Locksmith anyway. First, people don’t seem to realize that Windows 8 has two different types of user accounts – a local Windows account, and a Microsoft Live account. I’m not sure why some people haven’t noticed this, but maybe...

Special thanks goes out to: Charles Kent, GySgt USMC(Ret) …a super contributor to D7 and Foolish IT cause, he has donated no paltry amount and more times than I can count, not to mention how he has served my country and fought for the freedoms that I enjoy. Thanks Charles, you are the best!
Just a quickie for those of you who haven’t figured it out. whatismyip.com is now charging for it’s services and no longer offering free automation services as they have in the past. As such, there has been an effect on several of my apps. IP Notifier has been retired for now, entirely. dSupport and other applications which display or report an external IP address will no longer function as expected – and instead report some...
Backstory: I’m drowning in issues. Maintaining D7 by itself, much less all of my other applications, bugs and issues that crop up, new feature requests, a business in selling them, providing services and support, working a 40 hr./week day job on top of that is getting me down in a big way. DataGrab / DataRestore and DataMigrate are my creations, they need attention – but my attention is frequently elsewhere and I don’t have the...
You can now save multiple Auto Mode profiles for the Maintenance, Malware, Windows Repair, and Customize/Install pages. To save a new profile, just enter a new name for the profile in the drop down box, and click Save Profile. Rejoice!
If you were configuring dMaintenance with a dCloud subscription, this applies to you. You MUST reconfigure and redistribute dMaintenance v2.4.8 and better. Previous versions will have issues when updating their configs from dCloud. The issue is with the installer, it will not create the appropriate registry key to set the client identifier that can disable dMaintenance should you disable it from dCloudConsole. I believe everyone affected has been notified, and I apologize for any inconvenience.
Recently there have been several issues which have plagued a small number of D7 users that I cannot explain or reproduce. The first issue is that D7 after update would complain that it wasn’t registered – any attempt to re-register it was met with the same message. The second issue is simply that D7 is not starting, however it is visible as a running process. While I can’t quite put my finger on the problem,...
In line with my last post about what was on the horizon, I have accomplished that task with dMaintenance and dSupport. If you didn’t catch it, what I’ve done is give you (through dCloud) the ability to essentially enable/disable remote installations of dMaintenance and dSupport. This will allow you to sell them to your clients as part of a subscription based service instead of a one-time sale. For dMaintenance, when you disable the ‘subscription’ you...
I’ve finally been talked into integrating subscription based management of dMaintenance and dSupport. This is a feature for those of you reselling these apps to clients, wishing to sell them as part of a subscription based plan instead of a one-time sale. This will add significant value to dMaintenance and dSupport for your business by opening a new subscription based revenue stream to you. The basic idea is to provide you the ability to revoke...
