Now I have the fix in place for the registry redirection on 64bit OSes!!! This means that Malware Scan will now scan both 32 and 64bit sections of the registry! Other minor things now work, like the “List Installed Apps” bit on the Offline tab when run on the local system, and more. Furthermore, this means that D7 is finally what I would consider fully compatible with 64bit OSes! (just how “fully” now depends on...
Did you know that D7 has sponsors? Yep! 17 of them, so far! And I want to give a big public THANK YOU to all of them, those who have donated to me and the D7 project. Your contributions are very much appreciated!
v420’s enhancements are massive and a huge step to becoming fully 64bit compatible (as far as the file system redirector on 64bit OSes is concerned; we’ll work out the registry redirection details in another release). Here’s the full recap since the 420 release! v4.2.0 R3 * With the FS Redirector disabling code now working for 64bit OSes, enabled scanning of both System32 and SysWOW64 dirs in Malware Scan’s “System32 Files” scan. * You now have...
D7’s filehandler.exe now officially submitted to ESET as a false positive with their heuristics engine. We’ll see how long it takes and what type of response I get…
Just noticed this article (currently on the front page) … I spend so much time in the forums I forget to check that every once in a while! Also want to let ppl know I have new YouTube vids available: D7 – 3rd Party Tools Setup Revised D7 – Adding Your Own Custom Applications And for those who haven’t fired it up in a while, we’re up to D7 v4.1.6!
Yesterday I released D7 v4.1.4 with a new and streamlined process of initial download/setup and updating of 3rd Party Tools. There’s a new video on setup here:
Just released with a NIC profiling feature on the NIC form. What’s that? The NIC form is the thing that pops up with various network card configuration information when you click the IP Address at the top of D7. Oh, you mean what’s the profiling feature. Well I just wanted a quick way to backup and restore static IP settings on a system. I also wanted a quick way to inject OpenDNS or Google DNS...
…is now online! HERE Tons of new content over the old and aging PDF documentation. Check it out!
I just saw a Youtube video of someone ELSE demoing my D7, (sweet!) which reminded me I was long overdue in fixing something. When D7 attempts to delete live running malware, it fails the first attempt – because the malware is running, naturally! Never fear, D7 can terminate that malware and finish the job. The problem occurred when D7 made its first attempt at deletion – you got a Windows prompt that asks you to...
WARNING: I’ve had two people inform me that after using D7 they end up with a corrupted registry on reboot, and have had to replace the hives with backups from System Volume Information. Unfortunately, I haven’t run into the issue myself… and I’ve only had two people come up with it (and contact me, at least) out of over 5000 confirmed downloads on Majorgeeks alone… So I haven’t a clue what could be happening or...
