Getting Drivers with D7 and D7 – Zero Access Removal Hopefully I can crank out a few more soon. Thanks for watching!
Misc bug fixes, most notably the Reporting button that generates the Info_Report.txt file was broken a release or two ago and did some funky stuff especially if you chose to copy it to Support. Sorry about that!
First, with v4.8.8 just released, I am fixing a bug with my encryption/decryption method of storing your email password, that was introduced in v4.8.5 – if your email actions within D7 quit working at v4.8.5 then this was the culprit. Regardless, with the v4.8.8 update you will be prompted to confirm your stored email password is correct before it is re-encrypted with my new encryption routine. If you were affected by this, sorry about that!!!...
D7 v4.8.6 has been in Pre-Release for several days… I am about to upload the full release version, but just thought I’d let you all know that D7 versions will remain in Pre-Release a lot longer than they used to. Reason being, I’m not a bench tech anymore, not as of Monday. Now I am part I.T. and part a completely different career. I simply won’t have the bench time for testing that I did...
Yep, if you use the email features of D7, you’ll know your password was stored in plain text in the INI file. Now, the password is stored with encryption, and also asterisks will be displayed in the D7 config screen for anyone looking in there! …among other new features, this was the biggie.
I’ve received many requests for the ability to custom brand D7 with your own company name and logo, for a more professional look when your customers are within view. It seems that many who wish to use D7, do NOT want their customers watching them using 3rd party applications such as D7 to solve issues. Well now you can brand D7 as your own in-house application, so your customers see you using YOUR OWN company tool set, not...
First, I hope you know that D7 has ALWAYS done the set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 environment variable bit before launching Computer Management in the Windows tab, so you can simply select Show Hidden Devices in the Device Manager and see actual missing devices and the Non-Plug and Play Devices category. That feature is a given, and has been around since long before D7 went public. The Missing Non-Plug and Play category in Device Manager: However,...
In D7 v4.7.9 (currently available only as a pre-release update) I’ve added a sweet new feature! D7 Locksmith – a function to remove passwords from offline Windows installations. What you do: You can either slave the HDD to your Tech Bench Computer, or boot the client’s PC to a WinPE based boot CD with D7 on your flash drive. Run D7 Locksmith from the D7 > Offline tab, and click the Make Modifications button....
Here’s what’s new in the last few versions of D7 (currently at v4.7.4): General: Del Temp Files function now also does Windows Update temps (%windir%SoftwareDistributionDownload) Repair Permissions time is vastly reduced by combining command line parameters for subinacl (duh!) clicking the X to close D7 will prompt you as to HOW to close D7 (completely, as if using the Close button, or partially as the previous behavior exhibited.) D7 can now prevent system sleep mode...
