Added option to new User Folder Redirection feature, for “No username in final directory” so you can redirect user folders to the root of a drive, e.g. “D:\Desktop” rather than “D:\Mr. Foo\Desktop“ Added installed .NET Framework versions to the Software section of the Info Report. Added “Last Windows Update” and “Last Shutdown Time” to the Info Report. Removed “Anti-Spyware” from the Info Report if it was the same program as “Anti-Virus”, also removed blank “Last […]
Added new feature “User Folder Redirection” (under the d7x > Users drop down menu) by user request. This will redirect user folders (optionally select Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and/or Videos) to a new location, and automatically move the existing folder and files to the new location after successful redirection. See video at the bottom of this post for a walk-through demonstration. This feature is exactly the equivalent of manually changing the location of each […]
That may not make sense to many, so let me break that down. CryptoPrevent optionally sends email alerts, but you have to configure your own email account in CryptoPrevent so it can do this. Previously, this meant configuring your email account’s SMTP server and putting in your email password. Now, if you have a Google account email (GMail or Google Workplace) this is no longer the case, you simply need to enter in your Google […]
New: d7x now works with GMail without an SMTP server configuration, enabling secure login via OAuth2 so you won’t need to disable 2-Factor Authentication or use Google generated App Passwords with your account. (See video below) You may also wish to view our privacy and data collection policy here. System Restore repair now attempts to enable System Restore (and if run outside of Auto Mode it will also create a restore point) and if either […]
(repost) CryptoPrevent version 21.7.23 adds a new setting for “Controlled Folder Access” which is not a CryptoPrevent protection but a newer protection provided by Windows 10 and Windows 11, so the setting will now appear in CryptoPrevent on these operating systems. We’ve determined that when configured properly, Controlled Folder Access works very well with CryptoPrevent to block unknown ransomware threats. It works by blocking all unknown applications from accessing data in protected folders on your […]
CryptoPrevent v21.7.1 has been released and is ready for update for all premium copies of CryptoPrevent, or the latest version can be downloaded for installation from the main page here (look for the download button on the right.) Added new ‘ShadowGuard’ protection to protect volume shadow copy data from deletion, and to terminate any application that attempts to do so. Added new maintenance features (Clear the Windows Store Cache, and Create a System Restore Point […]
Updated various d7x functions for the Windows 11 Insider Preview, particularly repairs involving Windows services among more minor things. Removed support for Windows 10 service repairs on all versions PRIOR to 1903. The Tweaks > Desktop > Desktop Icons > Recycle Bin was not being detected as enabled if the setting had never been toggled off/on before.
The “Check Auto-Start Services” alert on the System Info tab now alerts only for services that are set to start automatically (excluding any delayed auto-start services, whereas previously they were included.) This will mean the alert only pops up when you ACTUALLY should look into the issue, and never because you just restarted Windows and delayed auto-start services haven’t yet had the opportunity to start. As such, this alert is now RED when triggered. Delayed […]
Corrected a recent issue with the last few versions reporting a 32bit OS when it was actually 64bit. More updates to the Repair Windows Update functionality for Windows 10! Updated various repair functionality requiring repair to Windows services for all versions of Windows, including the addition of repairs for the current leaked Windows 11 build. Windows 10/11 version display now shows the display version and the release ID, ex: 20H2 (2009) v21.6.23.1 Fixed potential file […]
I just received report of a Lockdown user not being able to download files in Chrome or Edge (Chromium) with no blocking reported in the event logs. Thanks to Luke for the report and solution, v1.1.2 has been uploaded to include a new default path in the whitelist rules for “%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows Defender” because executables in there were being used to scan file downloads, rather than their counterparts in %programfiles%, I guess.
