New Tweak: Enable DNS over HTTPS (Requires Windows 10 build 19628 and compatible DNS servers e.g. Cloudflare or Google.) New Command Line Argument: /NiniteProfile=[AutoModeProfileName] used to automate Ninite Pro Classic silently. Previously the /d7f=74 would fire the Ninite functionality but it failed without being able to specify a profile, so the new switch replaces that entirely. We don’t have a Ninite Pro Classic account to test with currently, so this functionality is UNTESTED, so if […]
Complete redesign of the “Tweaks” tab, now separating most tweaks by function rather than OS, with a focus on Windows 10 tweaks Most tweaks (all except File Sharing/Networking and a few Obscure tweaks) now update with a shaded in checkbox when the tweak has been applied successfully. Added granular “Power Plan” tweaks for Screen, Disk, Sleep, and Hibernate timeout values (e.g. 5 minutes), rather than the old options to simply disable the timeouts. Added the […]
Tweaky is yet another tweak app, but for PC techs and IT Pros specifically. Tweaky combines the best elements of Uncle Carey’s Windows 10 Optimizer, Uncle Carey’s Windows 10 Netfix, the best tweaks from our d7x technician’s tool, and adds in your user suggestions for tweaks and branding opportunities. Read more and Download here. Be sure to send us your suggestions for the app after trying it out!
Add a “Command Prompt Here” option to your right-click/context menu in Windows Explorer and on the Desktop, which of course opens cmd.exe and changes path to the current directory in Windows Explorer. The option did already exist if you held the SHIFT key down when right-clicking the background of Windows Explorer, but this was replaced by PowerShell in Windows 10; and besides, you had to hold down SHIFT (with this .reg addition, you do not.) […]
Fixed an issue with Ninite Pro Classic integration, where “Refresh Apps List” wouldn’t populate available apps, breaking integration. New Windows 10 Specific Tweaks tab, moved Windows 10 only tweaks to this tab and added new tweaks: Disable Cortana (Functionality), right-click to undo/re-enable. Disable Bing in Start Menu Search (Functionality), right-click to undo/re-enable. Remove ‘3D Objects’ from This PC (User Interface), right-click to undo/restore. Enable Classic Photo Viewer (Classic Functionality) Enable Legacy Balloon Tips (Classic Functionality), […]
Added Workgroup name to System Info tab when system is not joined to a domain. Added File Sharing/Network Discovery tweaks on Tweaks > More Tweaks tab. Updated several outdated motherboard/VGA driver website links when clicking on the part under System Information on the System Info tab. Note that a few websites are just gone and don’t seem to exist anywhere (Foxconn and SIS.) Also forced links to open in the default web browser since the […]
Added new option/tab to uninstall Windows Store Apps in KillEmAll/dUninstaller interface, including whitelisting/blacklisting options that match the classic programs definition rules. Automated processing of the new related definition files is included in the current “dUninstaller (Auto)” d7x internal function. Added all reports from the Audit/Diag tab as internal functions with numbers, so they may be used in command line arguments passed to d7x, such as through the d7xRDT. Search for the report name in Config […]
Added tweak “Disable Background Store Apps” which will prevent ALL Windows Store Apps from running in the background when you aren’t using them. This is found under Windows 10 on the tweaks tab. Added new “Fix File Sharing and Network Discovery” functionality; search in d7x Network features to add to your custom lists. This feature enables verifies if services are configured properly, enables File and Printer Sharing, enables Network Discovery and Auto Setup of Networked […]
Uncle Carey’s Windows 10 NetFix was conceived by Carey Holzman and developed by d7xTech.com to make life easier when setting up or troubleshooting file sharing and communication between network devices on Windows 10/8.x. We at d7xTech thought it would be a good idea to expand upon it and include some networking repair functionality found in our d7x Technician’s tool, but this is entirely optional. This tool is perfect for: Anyone who wants to easily apply these tweaks and fixes to […]
Lockdown is a preventative measure for use against malware/ransomware attacks, which works by leveraging Windows Software Restriction Policies to prevent programs from running unexpectedly and from blocked locations. Lockdown is designed in the opposite way that CryptoPrevent works with SRP, in that Lockdown by default blacklists the entire file system, and whitelisting must be applied to allow programs to run (even built-in Windows programs!) Locksmith also goes a step further and restricts not only executables, […]
