Added a custom app option to use the Shell API when launching a custom app, and this is designed to fix some issues with errors from the custom app about either missing files or in the case of Windows Repair AIO, it thinking that it is running from a network path when it isn’t. Also the Windows Repair AIO custom apps were updated so that they don’t display this error. Sorry for the uneventful […]
Doubled the threshold of the RAM upgrade alert for all versions of Windows. Windows 8.x/10 was doubled from 4GB to 8GB (meaning less than 8GB and the RAM upgrade alert is triggered.) Windows Vista/7 was doubled from 2GB to 4GB, and Windows XP (why do we still support this?) was doubled from 1GB to 2GB. The point being, RAM is cheap, even the older stuff at least should be plentiful. Fewer known services should trigger […]
Fixed: d7x would re-download some custom apps regardless of whether or not the app was just downloaded, ignoring the custom app’s redownload settings. Fixed: d7x was not preventing web browsers from popping up during program uninstalls. This has been fixed so now a program uninstall won’t pop up or wait on a web browser window. As a result of the current configuration, you may (or may not) see a command console window flash briefly when […]
New: Automatically send an email on session start after generating an info report, with configurable email templates. See Config > Session > Start Session > look to the bottom of the page. Improved: d7x Registry Search is now located under the ‘Registry‘ drop down, and now remembers your search history throughout the d7x session, so if you use the feature more than once in a session it will be remembered. Change: The d7x Run dialog […]
Updated the Internal (drop down menu) > Manage Installed Updates (d7x/DISM) to display the KB# for that Windows update (when it can be found) in a separate column for easy readability, added a quick search option (use case scenario is for the KB#) to highlight the result if found, and added double-click on an item to retrieve package info. Now registry shortcuts created under the Registry drop down menu will launch like RegEdit (As TrustedInstaller) […]
The ‘Windows‘ drop down menu is under redesign, putting many options under sub-menus so a number of new Windows 10-specific shortcuts could be added. Note many of the options were moved to the ‘Diagnostics‘ sub-menu. As Windows 10 Settings App becomes more useful, several of the d7x drop down menus have been updated to link to both the classic/Windows 7 based version and the Windows 10 based version where available. Several other items in the […]
Added support for the ‘Brave‘ web browser when deleting temp internet files, history, and cookies. Added a new d7x function to update the system default web browser. Search for “update” or “browser” under all d7x functions. Currently works with Edge, Chrome, Opera, and Brave only. This may need some tweaking, so please let me know if you observe any issues with this feature.
So earlier this morning I saw a post from someone looking for a way to lock their Windows 10 Start Menu from changes, because after updates and for other reasons the menu layout would occasionally get altered one way or another. So I said to myself hey, there’s a powershell command to backup the Start Menu to an XML file, and a group policy to apply and lock that XML based layout into place. So […]
This release fixes an issue detecting the current state of the “Set Search Option” for the search bar/icon on the Windows 10 taskbar, located in d7x on the Tweaks > Start Menu/Taskbar tab, and in Tweaky on the Interface/Explorer > Taskbar tab. Previously the default setting was not being detected properly if the setting had never been changed before. Under these conditions, this would have the effect of not applying your chosen setting (when applying […]
The main fix to all three apps involves a hopefully rare underlying problem with the code used to work with Windows’ CreateProcess API, which has a bug of it’s own that our code wasn’t compensating for. d7x: Under some rare conditions this may cause a failure to launch 3rd party applications. dSupportSuite: The problem was a little more complicated, and under some conditions this could cause a custom app that had a bad download link […]
