Thankfully, it’s an easy task to backup your most important data. The hard part actually doing most people, myself included.
You have many storage options to use, I will be walking to you through them. You will see just how simple it is to back up all your information, files and photos right now – before you data disaster occurs.
What are my options?
Option One: You can spend up to, but not limited to, $100 a year and back up the data from all your PCs and mobile devices (cell phones and tablets) to an online storage service. You can choose the one that supports all your devices, the one that has the most storage space (Gigs available to save your data), the one you feel will fit your needs. They provide you a downloadable application that you can use to maintain a mirror of your files on your PC.
Of course, this method works only if you have access to enough upload stream of bandwidth, on a regular basis, to handle all your essential needs.
Option Two: You can move all the data from your phone or tablet onto your PC. You can buy the fastest, most capacious external hard drive you can afford. Use the built-in app provided by Windows (File Recovery in Windows 7, or for Windows 8 it’s File History Tool) to create a system image and recovery CD, or you can use a flash drive if you prefer. After you have done that, you would then use the Windows Backup to back up all of your important data. When would I do this back up, you ask yourself? Well, you could do it daily, weekly, or even monthly. Just know you don’t over do it, there is not a limit of the number of times you can back up data. Just to be safe you can also back up your backups, so that you know you will have them.
Using one of the two options, or a combination of both options, will protect the data on 99% of PCs 99% of the time, Although I will note that local backups are the quickest to restore and if you have anything important, digitally, save it in more than two locations.
