(Note: Access config via the top left drop down menu within d7’s main interface. Shown above: The Register/Personalize section from the left menu, just below the middle.)
Registered Name:
- You must input your registered company name EXACTLY as it appears in the registration confirmation email you would receive from me. The name is bound to the product key and cannot be changed without also changing the product key.
- This name will always be displayed first thing in the title bar of a registered copy of D7.
Product Key:
- You must copy/paste in the registration key EXACTLY as it appears in the registration confirmation email you would receive from me.
- YES, the SPACES in the product key do matter!
Application Title:
- Optional, fill in this blank to replace the “d7” name in the title bar of d7 with an application name of your choosing.
NOTE on Registering:
When you first supply your registration information and click the SAVE and PREVIEW button, you should receive a message stating “Thank you for registering d7” – if you do not get this message then you have made entered in either an incorrect Registration name or product key.
Other options to further customize d7’s branding and appearance:
- Display d7 Version – Displays the d7 version number in the title bar.
- Display d7 Path in Title Bar – Displays the current execution path of d7 in the title bar.
- Display d7 News & Alerts in Lower Statusbar When Idle – Displays various messages of my choosing in d7’s status bar when d7 is idle and updates are not available (an update message overrides this setting and other messages.)
To brand d7 with your own logos, two files are required to be placed in your d7 Config directory.
- First you need a bitmap named applogo.*
- BMP, GIF, JPG, and PNG files are supported, but BMP is strongly recommended.
- This by default should be around 60×60 pixels, up to 120h x 60w pixels (or 240w x 60h with the long rectangle option enabled.)
- Next you need an icon file named applogo.ico
- Greenfish Icon Editor is an excellent free program for creating and editing icons.
- It is recommended to always include a 16×16 version of your image inside the icon file so it doesn’t look as bad if artificially scaled down for the system tray and application title bar.
- Your icons may be up to 32bit color depth, and will look great in the Windows taskbar at that depth, however only 8bit color depth (256 colors) is supported for the system tray version of the icon. If your icon is 32bit then the standard d7 logo will be displayed in the system tray, whereas your icon will appear in the title bar of d7 and the Windows task bar.
- The actual d7 executable icon (as viewed in Explorer) cannot be changed by normal means (meaning, you would need to use an app such as Resource Hacker to change this icon – but it is part of the executable, so it will get overwritten every time d7 updates itself — so for that image you are essentially stuck with the standard d7 logo.
