Any decent tech knows about Nirsoft utilities, but what a hassle downloading them all. Until recently, I had scripted a weekly FTP download with wget to download newer file versions to a network share on my server, unzip, and package them neatly to automatically sync to my flash drive and tech machines.
Also, what a hassle sifting through over 100 utilities when it’s time to use one. Sometimes even remembering the file name of some lesser used utilities was a task for me, being as scatterbrained as I am.
Enter NirLauncher! This is the first public beta of a single prepackaged download with over 100 Nirsoft utilities, and a launcher to run them all within a neat and categorized interface!
w00t!
There is also a search function that reads file descriptions in case you forgot the file name/title of what you want to run. Sweet! From the interface you can also Run As Administrator, do an advanced run for command line parameters, launch the utility URL, or help file. But wait, there’s more!
Double-w00t? Nir Sofer also offers an optional download for a Sysinternals configuration add-on, where you can add the Sysinternals Suite (another any-decent-tech thing) to the NirLauncher!
Triple-w00t? After reading the double, you should have guessed it, you can edit the config files (like an INI) and add your own utilities too. EDIT: Actually, the respectable thing (and the “don’t overwrite me when you update the NirLauncher package” thing) to do would be to create a new NLP using an existing one as a template, instead of editing an existing one.
Be sure to read the entire blog post for notes on availability and functionality. Also remember to disable any anti-virus software on your machine or your network gateway ‘lest you want a corrupted download due to false positives, and check your hash values to ensure you got the real deal.
