dSupportSuite, our White-Label Automated Maintenance app / Business Card with a Purpose (both the stand-alone and d7x bundled versions) as well as dSupportSuite Mgmt Console have been updated to include two new exciting features which are designed to make it easier to recover user files in the event of a ransomware infection:
ShadowGuard has been incorporated. ShadowGuard prevents malicious software/ransomware from deleting your volume shadow copies, and can be configured to guard against VSSAdmin commands, WMIC commands, and Powershell commands. Read more about ShadowGuard here on the stand-alone ShadowGuard app page, or visit the ShadowGuard tab in dSupportSuite configuration to get started. Note that ShadowGuard must be configured, it will not be enabled automatically after update.
dSupportSuite now ensures that System Restore is enabled every time a restore point is scheduled, and incorporates an optional scheduled task to ensure System Restore stays running (the task can be run either daily or at user logon.)
Owners of the full dSupportSuite (with Mgmt Console) should update their dSupportSuite Mgmt Console first via the internal update functionality in that app.
Owners of d7x will receive the latest dSupportSuite installation package after checking for updates; it will need to be installed on a test system for configuration purposes.
Client Software Update Availability: As always, client software will receive updates during the scheduled hearbeat (if configured), at application startup (if configured), or always prior to any Maintenance run.
- Updates deploy automatically to client software installed by d7x subscribers deploying the built-in dSupportSuite client software, as well as owners of dSupportSuite Mgmt Console using dCloud (legacy accounts.)
- Owners of dSupportSuite Mgmt Console who are using Self-Hosted FTP for configuration/deployment (the majority) must deploy this client EXE to your customers manually through your own FTP server. See this video for a how-to: https://youtu.be/2P3DT8ioREQ
- Client components aside from the main Client EXE will deploy automatically regardless of self-hosted status.
