Ok this is such a minor thing to most people, but there are a few out there who have struggled with this.
My apps are programmed in VB6, which has a limitation of displaying icons of certain color depths. The icon in the Windows taskbar can be a max of 8-bit color depth (256 colors) and the form icon (displayed in the top left corner of the app) can only be 16 colors!!! Also transparency isn’t supported at least in the form icon. This makes most icons look like utter crap in the interface.
Well I’ve finally found a ‘hack’ workaround to include up to 32-bit icons in my apps, including D7, dMaintenance, and dSupport, for both taskbar and form icons! So starting with their respective releases today, you can finally have your nice looking company logo/icon in 32-bit color with transparency without having to settle for a jagged edge looking piece of crap, a white background, or the app’s default icon.
Rejoice!
